While Michael had, by now, completed the role of "Blade/Rick Bladeson" on The Young and The Restless (that he started in 1993), Hunter continued her role as "Taylor" on Bold. Her contract was due to end in June of 1996, sparking the usual gossip. In March, a role offer on a Baywatch spin-off, to be called Daytona Beach, was apparently made but (Hollywood television mogul) Aaron Spelling jumped in with one on Melrose Place, where Hunter would play a sexy vixen called "Taylor McBride".

This potentially fame-heightening primetime role saw Hunter sign on for four years and an announcement was made in mid March. She sold the Nevada home and moved to California to see her contract out on Bold. Rumors again had it that Hunter wanted out of daytime and the Melrose Place role seemed to be a perfect move. Her fans were ecstatic and really proud of her!

While the fans were in glee about Hunter's new role, Michael was doing a bit of bi-coastal commuting, after signing back on to Guiding Light (GL) in New York, but little did we all know that another announcement was coming. The dynamic daytime duo announced, soon after Hunter signed up for Melrose Place, that they were with child - a double (good) whammy for fans, and Hunter could do no wrong - the happiness heightened all round. While fans pondered the level of fame Hunter might now achieve, that seemingly steady roller coaster ride, called life, was about to take a shaky and disturbing turn in her life.

In early April, soon after the baby announcement, the world was shocked by news reports that Hunter had been fired from Melrose Place (before she even started), and everyone thought that that might be the last the world would see of Hunter, for a while. The pregnancy announcement was the catalyst for a bizarre chain of events that culminated in the announcement of Hunter's firing. This left everyone, including fans, feeling devastated, and it was a good example of the sort of roller coaster ride her fans share with her in her life - uplifting and enjoyable sometimes and shaky and worrying the next.

Fortunately most fans remembered "Taylor" saying that she would be back. Within months of the firing the world soon heard that Hunter was back on Bold, to the huge delight of fans. The shock of the firing from Melrose Place, however, was still wearing off. Maybe the best news in 1996 was the birth of Hunter's first daughter, later in the year, and Hunter was soon providing more inspiration to working mothers the world over. After returning to Bold by mid year, and with Michael now concentrating on GL, the rest of the year was quiet on the Tylo front, from the fan's point of view.

On November 12th, we heard that news of the birth of Izabella Gabrielle, the third child in the Tylo family. With the shock of the Melrose Place firing over, for most fans, this news put a smile on most faces and a spring in our step - it was welcome news for a change. Within weeks of the birth, Hunter was back on the set of Bold and was soon busy setting up a nursery for visits with Izabella in between scenes. She was also concentrating on an appropriate diet and exercise routine that saw her back in shape and looking great in no time. Juggling all of these efforts may have been something Hunter had not done for quite a while but she proved to all that it can be done.
