As news of Hunter's lawsuit threats goes around the world, I thought I'd comment on the situation because magazines can make the exact same claims but web sites are seen as an easy target for potentially unwarranted threats, despite the fact that their readership is much smaller. What are the lawsuit threats that I am talking about? Here is an explanation.

You can use the forum to discuss the "hypocrisy" further if you like. I wanted to archive this news story here because it is newsworthy and we should all be free to discuss it, and it gives fans a further insight into the type of person Hunter might be. Is the lawsuit threat just attention seeking as some critics call it? You be the judge.

A few years ago, I mentioned here on HunterNet an opinion expressed on awfulplasticsurgery.com at the time that called Hunter's breasts "shelf boobs". In April this year, her publicist discovered the situation (a bit late, but oh well). She threatened to sue that site and bloggers all over the place starting talking about how they think it is just bullying.

If only the situation had been ignored because it may have caused more harm to Hunter's reputation than it did over the last two years when no one was talking about it after the hoopla declined back then. Doh!!!

I recently started a topic thread about it in Hunter's forum. There is quite a lot of completely unnecessary censorship there, so, not surprisingly, the thread was deleted by a trigger-happy censor even though it was unneccessary.

The comments were still on the awfulplasticsurgery.com site well after the deadline for their removal, and are still there today (and good on them for standing up to this because censorship on the Net is something that many people hate). The advice I have sought indicates that the threats had no merit for several reasons (not the least of which is that no harm to her reputation seems to have ensued in the years since the comments were made).

The implication that Hunter's breasts get her the work, rather than her beautiful face and acting skills, is outrageous. I certainly believe that women's groups would be quite outraged by such an implication, whether or not there is even a remote chance of any of it having any validity. Strangely, one never hears a peep when magazines make identical claims – and they have done so over the years.

For the record, I believe that Hunter is a beautiful lady for many reasons. I suspect that her breasts are just one of them, and if someone threatens to sue me for that opinion ... :-)

Hunter Tylo Threatens AwfulPlasticSurgery.com With A Lawsuit

Almost two years ago, I commented that Hunter Tylo's boobs had shelf-like qualities. I am now being threatened with a lawsuit due to that comment. Here is the legal letter I received today.

RE: Defamation on Awfulplasticsurgery.com website

Relating to Hunter Tylo

Dear Sir or Madam;

This firm represents Hunter Tylo in litigation matters.It has recently come to our attention that your Internet website at http://www.awfulplasticsurgery.com has posted at least one false and defamatory statement about Ms. Tylo. Specifically, an article entitled “Hunter Tylo and her shelf boobs.” That article is replete with false statements that would tend to harm Ms.Tylo's reputation in her profession. As such, you are directly liable for the libelous statement contained on you site.

A review reveals that the false statements about Ms. Tylo were made with a reckless disregard for the truth. These statements are false and amount to libel per se. Thus, Ms Tylo is entitled to recovery without proving any special damages sustained from the defamatory statements.

Moreover, given the article’s complete lack of truth, it is only reasonable to conclude that the false statements were made with a specific intent to injure Ms Tylo and her reputation.

Immediately remove the article from your Internet website and refrain from publishing any further false statements or information about Ms Tylo. We are preparing a subpoena that will force Domains by Proxy to disclose your identity and will execute such if we have not received by the close of business on April 30, 2007 your confirmation that the article has, in fact, been removed from the website. After such date we will take appropriate legal action to protect our client’s rights.

Out of 509 Google results - a lot of lawsuits waiting there :-) for the search query: "awfulplasticsurgery.com + hunter tylo" on June 12th, 2007, here is one of the responses to the news.

• On a blog on Live Journal in late April, several comments in response to the article suggested that Hunter is a "bitch" and the Aaron Spelling lawsuit was a common topic mentioned as well. Proving in any lawsuit that any plastic surgery has not taken place on her breasts is another topic mentioned in blogs and comment posts in response to the article.

This week the official site for the movie, which is still seeking finance to get off the ground, has set up a profile in MySpace Films. Click here to have a look. • A recent soap magazine article mentions that the Tylos are divorcing. As hard as it may be for some fans to believe, this news is sadly very true.
  
  I'm completely stunned and would like to wish Michael and Hunter the very best. I'd encourage them to try to work it all out one day because this is not the answer. However, like other fans and the magazines who will not be made privy to any information, I'm not aware of the facts and have to respect people's decisions nevertheless. It's just upsetting and I really wish the whole family all the best at this time.
