This site is 10 years old today! I can't believe how much my little baby has grown. Happy Birthday HunterNet (Hunter Tylo on the Net)!

Following on from the three sections mentioned below, the final part of my 10th anniversary message about this site is available here. After a bit of discussion about Hunter's popularity, the final part of my message thanks some of the key people that helped this site to become what it is today, plus another ring-in or two I like as well that I'll thank :)

Introduction to a special message to come

May 1st, 2009:

Ten years ago this month (specifically the 18th), this web site was launched for the benefit of Hunter Tylo's fans. It has undoubtedly become the world's most popular unoffical fan site about her. It offers the world's largest online Hunter Tylo photo gallery, as well as video clips, information, my opinions and other original content that I have written over the years (like the biography), plus a whole lot more. I don't mean to brag but I am certainly very proud of what I have built here since 1999. But I could not have done it without the help of Hunter Tylo's fans and others and the inspiration I've always drawn from Hunter Tylo herself.

Now, here comes the usual "overrating" of Hunter part :) HunterNet is devoted to a woman that I described last year, in my birthday message in her forum, as the greatest there ever was, is and will be for many years to come (it was a bit of a tough year for her in some ways and I couldn't help saying that). I think back over the time since the middle of last year when I said that and I remember what the media and public has put her through and how she has handled it with such dignity. I think back over that time about her acting work and how incredibly brilliant her work has been, and over the years in general since I became a fan of her in 1990. I think of all the reasons why I have always admired her and all the reasons why I have become so fond of her. Hunter Tylo is a woman that blows me away!

I will acknowledge that I have always been a bit over the top about all these reasons why I've always liked Hunter Tylo (especially her looks). There's always going to be female celebrities that have at least one guy running a fan site about them and making positive statements; nothing unusual there. But I believe now that I was truly a lot more correct in my description of Hunter last year, as the greatest, than I even knew back then.

I don't care if people say I'm just going a bit overboard in making such comments. It is what I believe based largely on what we have all seen in recent times, as well as what I know of the story of Hunter's life so far (as I've documented here over the last decade). I know other fans have stood by her and admire her as much as I do, if not more so. Perhaps there are a few other people out there that think even more highly of her than I do? I am quite sure there is and so I have nothing to be embarrassed about with my positive descriptions of her. I am a very proud fan today and I am definitely not afraid to shout it from every mountain top on the planet! If Hunter herself even doesn't happen to like just how much of a fan I can be and how proud I am then tough luck, because it's the way I feel :)

So, with that in mind, I will have some comments to make here throughout this 10th anniversary month. There will be some messages of thanks to a lot of people that have contributed to this site in some way over the years. There will also be a look back at a small part of the history of this site. I will talk a bit about what I have learnt about the public and Hunter's fan community in my time as the Webmaster of this site. And, yes, I will "worship" (just a tiny bit) the one truly cool and great lady that I have always admired as a person and looked up to, and whom thoroughly deserves all the praise she gets from me and other fans, whether she thinks she deserves it or not :) So stick around over the coming weeks and watch for my anniversary message to be published here this month, if you are interested in all that.

A little compassion wouldn't hurt right about now - the media and Hunter Tylo's haters and critics this year.

Have people forgotten about compassion?

In part one of this update (below), I eluded to the fact that Hunter's mother is having some health problems. Given what is going on with her, plus the fact that Mike Tylo would've been 21 in the next week - and given how poorly the media and public has treated Hunter and her beau, Corey, since late last year when many people first started to hear about Hunter's mother's ill-health - I'd be willing to bet Hunter is not exactly on cloud nine at the moment. And you can read more of my thoughts about Hunter's haters (including the "lisp comment") and the media in relation to this in either this forum topic or this blog post.

Part one: April 18, 2009:

In this multi-part update, I would like to cover several topics including Hunter's mother, Hunter's critics, the recent poll here and some photos of HT from B&B this week (she looked awesome, according to myself and other fans in a B&B forum!) Let us start with the photos and poll and then HT's mother. I would then like to comment, in part two, on the Hunter haters and general critics but will do that in the blog area over the next day or so (and will post just above about that at the time).

Photos and new YouTube deal for B&B

If you would like to see some screen caps of Hunter on B&B this last week, please click here for the photo album featuring these. You tell me? Is that not the most gorgeous face ever? I know a lot of people, including myself, believe that B&B does not always do her beauty much justice at the best of times, but this last week's episodes have offered scenes in which she looks really good in the natural lighting. This is why I love beach photos of HT or other outdoors photos of her; the lighting brings out the beauty of her staggeringly stunning eyes!

For people in countries in which they may not have seen all that much of Hunter and those eyes in recent years, if B&B is not currently airing there, I have some good news. A small group of Hollywood studios have struck a deal with YouTube to offer free TV episodes and movies online. CBS is one company in the agreement and this means that B&B will be airing on YouTube in markets not currently served. Obviously, geo-blocking will occur for that channel but those in selected countries will see full episodes and extra content. You will see how truly gorgeous Hunter has become if you haven't seen much of her in recent years. You will also see what an excellent actress she has become, too. Cool, huh?

Poll

The poll that has been running here for a while is now closed. The result (posted on the poll page) is that most B&B viewers do want to see "Ridge" and "Taylor" get back together. I actually do not myself wish to see this, because I'd rather see "Taylor" hook up with "Bill" at some stage. However, I am incredibly patient at the best of times and can wait a while.

A message to Hunter's mother, JoAnne

I heard late last year that Hunter's mother, JoAnne, was having health problems. I was not aware of what was involved until I got a shock earlier this week when HT herself posted a message to her Facebook friends about her mother's health. I will not go into it here, even though the information has been posted in other sites since then and will probably be mentioned in the media over the next month around the world. But I do want to take the opportunity to acknowledge a lady I have always meant to acknowledge a lot more on this site than I ever have.

She is a lady that I will always be eternally grateful to for giving birth to and raising a daughter who has since become a truly beautiful woman (Hunter). The lady I speak of is, of course, JoAnne. I would like to take this long overdue opportunity to humbly and respectfully acknowledge JoAnne for all that she has done over the years to raise her family to become such fine citizens of this world since they ventured out on their own. She can be very proud of her personal and family achievements in her life so far. She is an inspiration and if Hunter is anything to go by she has done a supreme job in raising a daughter when HT was younger that has grown to become a classy and inspiring lady - one who also happens to be the world's most beautiful lady, I believe - and who is going to argue with me :)

Obviously, Hunter has grown to be a truly beautiful, classy, inspiring and wise lady in her own right, but I'll bet that her mother's advice and wisdom over the years has been a good guide. Thank you, JoAnne, for everything, from the bottom of my heart! You will always eternally have my admiration and deepest and greatest respect! In your time of need for some prayers now, please be assured that Hunter's extended family - her loyal and loving fans - are thinking of you and praying for you. Peace be with you!

I will comment on how upset, hurt, frustrated and angered I have been this week, after what HT posted, when I think back over what has transpired this year with the media and public negativity about HT. My comments will not be pretty so I need more time to think it over and prepare this properly before publishing it all :)

How little did we all know back in 2000 (in her book) just how true the above quotes would turn out to be today more than ever? From working several jobs to raise a son, who seems to have turned out to be a fine citizen, to her "miracle daughter"; the traumatic experience of another daughter with eye cancer; to grief for a son that passed away - Hunter Tylo has shown her strength in her amazing odyssey as a mother. And what an extraordinary mother she is!

Is Hunter Tylo difficult to work with?

Well, if you believe that nasty rumor in February, she probably is hard to work with. But if you're more intelligent than that you certainly won't (she has been at B&B for 19 years and has a good track record of commitment to her job). I wanted to comment a bit more today because this site's visitor statistics show that it is attracting people coming in through search engine queries currently with questions like that (about her work ethic) - even though there is nothing in question about it here.

It is probably the result of the slander and lies in that recent rumor and also a small group of fans turning against each other instead of uniting against it (not surprisingly, I was involved in the tiffs, I'll admit, but mostly in a positive way hopefully). I have well and truly done my bit to stick up for HT's reputation in recent weeks (just because I wanted to). But I do want to say something to the gutless pussy (excuse the slang) and their kind that started the rumor, now that most people are aware that it was a false one.

Hunter knows she has a lot of haters filled with bitterness towards her. She knows that people will make up rumors that are untrue. She has been through so much in her life, including dealing with the haters. I don't know how she copes with it all but somehow she does. She is an awesome woman and people like you (rumor mongers) will never do HT's reputation as much harm as you think you will.

There will always be people like me out there that will hold Hunter up to the world as a positive example of a truly great human being! Such people will always promote her in a positive manner to people around the world. It is my guarantee then that you rumor mongers will always fail in your efforts to ruin her public image! Your "achievements" in recent weeks (including wasting peoples' time) have mostly failed and will continue to fail. My suggestion is that you get a life and leave HT alone!

Hunter talks about her work at B&B

In something of an update to a few recent news posts here (below), Hunter discussed some of those points in her forum today. She talked about the direction 'Taylor' is going in this year (yes, like I said below, the tossers that made up recent rumors HT is being fired from B&B were completely WRONG, as usual). She also thanked her fans for their support and spoke of her indignance about one of those tossers mentioned in a news update below (a magazine writer's fictional "news" that I went off about here not long ago).

Where that writer is concerned, HT said she had noticed that many people were outraged by such an ugly rumor about her (a few forums did have a little bit of discussion about it at the time). She also said it defamed her and her employer. I for one hope she sues because these magazines need to learn to improve their editing processes so fictional "news" does not get through (although that sells these days and is unlikely to change). The buck stops with the editor. In this case, there are plenty of people who would say that the editor and the writer should both be fired. I would still encourage people not to bother to buy those types of magazines or visit their web site (they are mostly an insult to the intelligence of women; their main market).

As for her work on B&B, HT talked about her character's storyline last year and how much time she was given to deal with such a rough year. The timing of one part of that storyline (the death of 'Phoebe') was an unfortunate coincidence. She is excited about her work on B&B this year, though, and is looking forward to 'Taylor' evolving more (and getting plenty of sex, she said - in a classy manner that is). I would like to thank HT and Corey for spending some time with us fans here on this site and in her Facebook and official forum in recent weeks, and for talking a bit more about some of the challenges she faced last year. Addressing a rumor

Is HT about to be fired? I don't think so !

Ooh, it's Friday the 13th! Scary! Have a spooky day everyone but watch out for black cats!

Anyway, all silliness aside, I should probably talk a bit about that rumor from a few days ago and last weekend. It has easily been settled as nonsense but let me fill you in, if you haven't followed the story. The soap web site writers are just waking up to HT's lack of storyline on B&B and have started making up stories (surprise, surprise) based on the direction the show seems to be going in for a little while.

More than two months ago (on December 7, 2008), HT told fans, through her representative, that she was not going to have much work on B&B for a while (possibly several months). She said the show was moving in the direction of giving KKL's character more screen time. Now that everyone has seen all this unfold on B&B, people that write rubbish at soap web sites are speculating that HT is about to be fired (despite forum discussions everywhere ad infinitum last year about what was really going on).

One person has even spread a rumor last weekend that HT is having trouble with the cast hating her guts and performance issues that are work-related procedural ones instead of the actual acting side of it, and supposedly HT will be fired soon for this (the gossipers must be psychic). Another says HT doesn't fit into Bradsky's vision for the future of B&B and is being let go. Rumors, rumors, what can we say about rumors? I know ... there all a complete load of rubbish (as HT told us fans this week herself - see news just below)! Very few of them come true. Funny that!

Unfortunately, people tend to believe rumors all too often. Apparently, some writers have claimed this week that Hunter's fans are "up in arms" about HT being shoved out the door when none of this is really the case. Us fans have seen it all before and were forewarned this time. So these soap site writers really are just insulting everyone's intelligence with their fictional "news" updates. The best advice is to find better sites if you are going to hang around them at all.

The fact is that HT is not going anywhere in any hurry and some people just need to remember how the game is played in this industry and see the whole picture. So, with that in mind, I decided to publish this little reminder here for the benefit of any of my readers that have the brains to avoid the lower quality soap web sites but are still hearing little bits of this rumor that HT is about to be fired (and the magazines will no doubt fall for it and stir it all up again shortly).

There are attention seekers everywhere. Some do a very good job at making themselves look important. They aren't fooling anyone. Just be careful which of them you choose to believe. So there, now you know :)

Sometimes I just get sick of the rumors about HT, hence my possibly caustic, snide remarks in this news update (Sorry!). Hunter is a beautiful woman in so many ways and doesn't deserve every single little bit of the rubbish people try to hang on her. So if I seem a little annoyed sometimes when I write about the rumors, that's why.

HT dropped by for a quick chat here this week in the chatterbox (copied and pasted here in the forum if you would like to read it). She also talked to a few people in her new Facebook (which is here if you haven't seen it yet). She quashed one rumor there that was mentioned here last year (about her boyfriend, who has just signed up with a new band, by the way) and she posted some photos of herself at home with some pets. She also assured us that many recent rumors (perhaps like the current one about problems at work, as seen in several forums) are false.

Thanks for spending some time with us fans, HT. It is always appreciated whenever you can spare the time!

Hunter the victim of malicious gossip?

Before I talk about a current gossip story, I've posted a magazine interview with HT in this forum topic this week, for those that are interested. She reveals a few interesting pieces of information there.

On to the rumor doing the rounds, that has been blown up quite a bit this week, and someone - apparently from TV Guide in Canada - wrote an article recently that said sources at B&B claimed that an actor on the show wanted to use their real life tragedy in a similar storyline for their character. Supposedly, people on the show were a bit surprised because it was seen as a possible Emmy opportunity.

It's possible that this little piece of fiction came up as a result of the passing of one of the show's younger characters, but the writer of the gossip was obviously unaware that the actor people think he was hinting about was not going to be participating all that much in that storyline. Which fiction writer might have egg on his face this week? Read on and see.

It was only natural that people assumed this guy was talking about Hunter in this fictional "news" article. Anyone stupid enough to believe any of it, no matter whom it was about, or even buy such a trashy magazine, may have been fooled because it certainly was not Hunter. Let's all get something perfectly straight: Hunter doesn't need to manipulate a situation to get an Emmy because she's one of daytime's best actresses, the world knows it, and she doesn't need any award to prove it, in my humble opinion at least! Anyway, I have noticed that this site's visitor stats are showing an increasing number of people here this week, so here's a bit more about the story, and its relation to Hunter, for those that might be here to read about it.

Hunter's webmaster explained this week in her forum that HT had opted out of the current B&B storyline for obvious personal reasons. Despite that, there was some discussion in the official B&B forum earlier in the week about this assumption that the subject of this magazine's gossip was HT. Her haters - many of whom really do have a low level of intelligence, as we all know - took the opportunity to ridicule her.

Hunter took the time to write a response to her fans on Wednesday night for publication on Thursday. She thanked them for their support before the current storyline started airing on B&B (her message has been posted here in the forum and there is a photo of the memorial plaque for her son there also). Like many, I can only shake my head in sorrow for her and her family when I read that.

It was sparked by a topic thread of "Prayers for Hunter" messages over the last few weeks (thanks on behalf of HT's fans to 'MissBrooke' for that) and one of "Apologies to Hunter" at the official B&B forum this week. Hunter explained why she didn't want to be too involved in the storyline (in contrast to the fictional magazine story). There's a "Hunter's board" thread as well now for discussion about the message.

This post in the apology thread yesterday sums up the opinions of HT's fans (about the article):

"Nelson Branco is a vile, little man and anything he says in his little hatefest column should be disregarded. He never gets anything right anyway. I thought what he said was truly disgusting. How he is allowed to print something like he did and NOT be forced to retract it is beyond me."

The moral of the story is that one should always ignore such trashy fiction and think of responsible consumerism and boycott this magazine. Eventually the editor will wake up, if the publication does not go belly up first.

Having said that, the incredibly heartless writers at B&B should've known better with the poor timing of the recent storyline. They could've recast the role for any reason instead of killing off the character for better ratings. The whole debacle has been panned by viewers in plenty of B&B forums but Hunter has been widely praised in them for her involvement in at least some of the storyline (and she has done exceptionally well in her scenes airing this week).

Anyhoo, if Mr Branco has any response to his critics I'm sure he's not that big a coward that he wouldn't be brave enough to respond to his critics in his next piece of fiction? We shall see what if anything comes out of this hoopla. In the meantime, yay for the extra publicity this fiction writer gave Hunter, because it reached a positive end despite his efforts!

A little while ago, B&B viewers had the opportunity to ask each of their favorite stars ten questions. Hunter's answers are now available but if you were expecting serious answers you will be wasting your time watching this video (below) until the last question (which, thankfully, she answered without all the jokes this time). I thought she might take the whole process a bit more seriously but Hunter being Hunter and all it turned out to be what you might expect.

She is quite amusing with some of her answers (the Asian manicurist impersonation being one of them). She wants "Taylor" to develop a psychosis with a second personality and become a stripper on the side, for example. Now, I would support that but HT is probably too much of a prude for that storyline. Of course, I am only kidding, the PG rating probably would not allow it anyway, sadly - pesky classification system, who needs it?!

As you will see, she is still chewing gum in this video (like in a previous one), looks bloody beautiful (as always) and makes fun of just about everything she can. Apparently Hunter's stepfather William Hutson passed away last month. This news comes at the time that Hunter is remembering her son Mike who passed away one year ago in October. My thoughts are with Hunter and her mother at this time.

September 15th, 2008: Kabir denies affair with Hunter rumors!

Time for something a little different, but still involving Hunter. Many fans of The Bold and The Beautiful (B&B) still remember popular Indian actor Kabir Bedi, who partnered with Hunter Tylo for the Prince Omar storyline in the late 1990s. In an interview today, Kabir told Little India online that he didn't have an affair or fling with Hunter all those years ago. Many fans of both will already have worked that out, of course, but it might be worth another mention while we look at what he said about B&B.

Kabir described some of his earlier career moves in the interview, and talked about how they took him to Hollywood. He described Hunter as "astonishingly beautiful" when commenting on his time at B&B and the processes involved in working there.

"The Bold & Beautiful was a fascinating experience, not only because I was paired with the astonishingly beautiful Hunter Tylo, with whom I had earlier done a TV series called Maharaja's Daughter, but also because of the way the entire project moved. For one, it re-introduced me to large segments of the American audience."

The joke about the rumors:

"Oh, contrary to some rumors doing the rounds in India, I did not have an affair, or fling with Hunter Tylo. We were colleagues who got on rather well. Sad but true!"

HT to attend run through Windy City!

August 27th, 2008: Change the Face Race!

Hunter Tylo will join hundreds of people in Chicago for the first annual Change the Face Race on September 13th, 2008. This is a 5K run and family walk from Bunker Hill Forest Preserves, Caldwell at Tonty Avenue, Chicago. The run will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the walk at 9:45 a.m. The 5K course is USATF-certified. The cost is $25 per person. The races will be followed by a morning of family activities, live entertainment by the Celtic Groundhogs and refreshments. During the event, to benefit The American Epilepsy Outreach Foundation, Hunter Tylo, who also serves as the national spokesperson for the foundation, will sign autographs and take photos with participants.

Participants can register at www.active.com and can share their photos with Hunter at the event here on this site by emailing them in with your name, or by posting them in the forum.

Yes you do still "have it", HT, big time, baby :) The article mentioned below, or half of it at least, under the above (perhaps slightly devishly misused) quote, has been published this week. You can see it in the forum here. And in case you are a fan who was a little offended by her "overrate me to death" comment, she checked her birthday messages in her forum before that interview and saw a few of us fans overrating her to death just a tiny little bit :) - but she deserves the accolades.

HT's love life and a new book

July 26th, 2008: Hunter talks about love, her work, and another book!

Fans of HT have gained quite an insight into her life and thoughts through various interviews she has done over the last nine months in particular. There have probably been more interview requests this year than she probably wanted to consider but she has and us fans are always grateful. Another interview was given by her this month on Michael Fairman On-Air On-Soaps and I had a bit of fun with it in her forum and this site's one, where the interview is posted (click here). Obviously I am just being silly with some of it and will do so again in this news update. But I know that the interview has been received by fans with much appreciation.

Her book 'Making A Miracle' was mentioned first up in this interview. I always described it here on this site as a "bible" of sorts and I know that the wisdom contained within has helped many of HT's fans through some of the darker times they have experienced. We all have them and unfortunately they usually cannot be avoided. So it is always good to have the experience of others to guide us through these times. It was interesting, therefore, to read in this interview that HT used her own book to help her through her grief (the chapters on Katya seem to have been most useful).

In the first part of the interview, HT discusses her love life after a question about her storyline this year (which many B&B viewers that comment online and in magazines seem to think is a bit silly - myself included for several reasons). She said that after her divorce she knew she would be dating again. With a face like that I am not surprised at all (methinks she knows she is gorgeous). But she tried to date older guys and found that some men at that age are ready to be the guy in his cave that just chills out and watches football. I think that is sad that guys would want to do that at any age when there is so much to do in life and nowhere near enough time to accomplish it all (a cruel irony but that is life, after all).

So then she dated Ian Ford, as regulars here might recall. He took her to some clubs back then (I am assuming that is whom she is referring to) and showed that younger guys can still be interested in women her age (as if she is an "old fart" or something at that young age). In fact, she said of younger guys that an age younger than her of "about 8 to 10 years is comfortable." So there you go fellas, if you are around my age then the Huntress could on the prowl :) Then the interview moves to how well she is known and the topic of the web comes up. This is the part when people like me (maybe) and the Taylor fans get a bit of a mention of sorts :)

She makes it known that she is aware that there are Taylorettes and Hunter haters out there (you know, those pesky ignorant ones that congregate on some of the daytime drama sites). And then she says that there "are people who overrate me to death" and I am thinking to myself: "Now who can we all think of that would bother to do that? Hmmm, the mind boggles :) I wonder who she could be talking about. It could not possibly be a few fans giving all those glowing recommendations because they enjoy HT's work and find her to be inspiring in so many ways, could it? The same fans that were always criticised for supporting her when her contract negotiations on B&B came up? Nah, it could not possibly be any of those that would overrate her to death? I cannot imagine that :)"

But the pre-conceived ideas that people reach after reading about her in interviews and online (and in my own way I am guilty of helping in that area right here on this site, with both positive and a few negative comments) and the intimidation factor because she is incredibly beautiful (and people will think she is stuck up) sometimes scare guys away, she seems to indicate. Although there are people that have not always had pleasant times with HT (she is only human like we all are), as far as I am aware she is no dragon lady at least. And with that topic in the interview out of the way, HT comments about her work on B&B and what inspires the writing for her character and others on the show. It is a good insight to that aspect of a popular daytime drama and to think that us B&B viewers say that the writers lost the plot (pardon the pun) years ago. Maybe that is only partly true when the some of their work comes from real life instead of just in their imagination.

The interview continued with discussions about handling her grief. And then the moment came that I have been waiting years to see, because it was the right time just a few years ago and certainly is now. HT indicated that, "I am at a place where I would want to write another book about these things." Although this is not a confirmation that she will do it, I am thrilled that she would want to. If she does write another book, I will definitely promote it here and rush out to buy it. I hope it hits the best seller lists like her first one did. So, all in all, this interview was yet another really good read about HT. I thank Michael Fairman, on behalf of all HT's fans. Of course, on behalf of all those that overrate her to death (like me, for example), I thank the gorgeous Hunter Tylo for sharing her thoughts. HT's pain

June 22nd, 2008: Hunter still reeling but pushing for change!

More details about Mickey Tylo's troubles with seizures have come out in the media this month and some of it has caused criticism of her delay in seeking proper advice and medication for him. This news update follows some of the reports and public criticism this month. Firstly, Mickey was remembered on June 13th in Chicago at The American Epilepsy Outreach Foundation's First Annual Wings of Hope Benefit. During this event, the "Mickey Tylo Butterfly Award" was given to Dr. Roy Sucholeiki, a neurology specialist and medical director of Central DuPage Hospital's Comprehensive Seizure and Epilepsy Program. Dr. Sucholeiki serves as the head of the Medical Advisory Council for American Epilepsy Outreach Foundation and is a member of the Professional Advisory Board of the Chicago chapter of the Epilepsy Foundation.

But they are not just slapping each other on the back by giving awards to themselves; there has been some valuable media discussion of the topic of seizures since then, and Hunter's continuing pursuit of the therapist that allegedly gave inappropriate advice. Hunter is still reeling from Mickey's passing and she told People Online last week that "... as all of the loss pain dissipates, you start to see, like I have, the purpose of that person's life," she said. "That's the feeling you have to cling on to." With her pain still quite deep, Hunter talked to Soap Opera Digest (SOD) a couple of weeks ago (see also previous news update) about this purpose (article is in the forum). When Mickey was advised not to take medication and instead take acupuncture of all treatments as well as counseling, his seizures worsened. This incorrect advice has seen Hunter's focus shift to the therapist that gave it.

Hunter's lawsuit has continued. She hopes that through this pretenders (i.e. people like therapists that are not doctors) can suitably rule out a medical condition first. While that is continuing Hunter is spreading awareness about epilepsy and seizures through her new role as spokesperson for the American Epilepsy Outreach Foundation. But it has not stopped the public from criticising Hunter. There has been a rumor this month that she obtained a restraining order against her boyfriend, whom she admits in SOD she had to "take a step back" from while grieving. It is apparently all on public record on the LA Superior Court web site. A small amount of criticism has resulted from this and the lawsuit against the therapist (more shortly). I am quite sure she is used to this criticism by now and has a thick skin for it.

The main point of criticism from the public (in the chat area on this site and at HT's forum and the CBS one) after the SOD article this month is that there may have been some negligence on Hunter's part, because she supposedly took too long to seek proper medical advice and medication for Mickey. I have admitted publicly here last year that I am curious to hear Hunter's side of the story about that. I find it hard to believe that the whole family was dragged in to see a pretender, but I do not want to criticise when I do not know the facts. Instead, while we wait to see if Hunter ever explains what I and others am curious to hear, I would like to use this site even more now to remind the public about pool safety (it should be law in every state that pools have fences around them) and several issues related to seizures (I have a family member who suffers from them and so I have first hand experience with the topic). Lessons need to be learnt by all from this and laws need to be passed.

May 26th, 2008: Hunter becomes spokesperson for Epilepsy Outreach!

In late April, it was announced that Hunter has become a spokesperson for the American Epilepsy Outreach Association. According to their web site: "Hunter Tylo will be the celebrity spokesperson at the First Annual Wings of Hope Benefit in support of the American Epilepsy Outreach Association, to be held at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago, Illinois on Friday, June 13th, 2008 from 7:00 PM until midnight."

If you know someone that suffers from Grand Mal, Partial Complex or other types of seizures, there is a discussion topic in the forum here where you can talk about how they started or give tips on how to handle them (there is a reason outlined there as to why I am curious).

March 3rd, 2008: Part of Hunter's lawsuit dismissed!

Last week a Nevada judge dismissed the wrongful death component of Hunter's lawsuit against her late son's therapist, according to People. Hunter apparently failed to respond to a motion to remove that part from the lawsuit. Whether it would not have stacked up in court anyway, or there is some other reason for the failure to respond, is open to speculation currently until more information is released.

In a recent magazine interview (see forum), Hunter talks about the day she and family and friends gathered for a memorial by the pool in which her son Mike passed away last year. This discussion was appreciated by fans that have since talked about it here on this site. This whole tragedy may have even helped Hunter's work.

A recent poll on this site asked visitors what they thought about Hunter's job performance since late last year. The results are as follows. Some of the options to vote on included her best work since returning to B&B several years ago and also her best work ever. These two options received the highest votes from fans. January 4th, 2008: Recent news: lawsuits, lawsuits.

True to her word on Larry King's show in November, HT has since proceeded to file a wrongful death lawsuit against her son's former therapist. Soon after, December 22nd marked the tenth anniversary of Hunter's legal victory against the late Aaron Spelling. She was fired from his show 'Melrose Place' in 1997 for being with child at the time. During the legal battle a jury found that she was discriminated against. This lawsuit was (rather annoyingly) dragged up again by the media in October last year, after her son Mickey passed away.

Unfortunately, since HT's lawsuit victory made her a household name for a few days in 1997, very little has changed for women around the world since then. This is because there are still old fuddy duddies, with old-fashioned, incorrect ideas, who have no place in the workforce now, that are running these companies. In Australia several television networks, most notably, have paid compensation to popular news anchors who were fired either during or just after their pregnancy in recent years.

In America over the last few years, plenty of celebrities have faced the axe from their television shows because writers seem to prefer not to accomodate pregnancies in storylines (especially during ones when it would seem weird, obviously). The beautiful Kari Wuhrer, is one such example. She sued ABC for pregnancy discrimination in 2006, after she was fired from GH.

The are laws in both countries that protect women from this type of repressive behavior (being fired when pregnant). The problem, though, is that governments do not have the will to enforce the law, so countless women are fired every day. In the entertainment industry money talks, so executives get away with it because of the generic terminology used in contracts that give them a way out. It is, as usual, a case of one set of rules for one group and different rules for everyone else. When will people ever learn?

December 3rd, 2007: HT on the red carpet recently.

In November, the Sirens Society and the Hot Moms Club promoted a charity event that celebrities and their children were invited to attend. One such hot Mom on the red carpet was Hunter, who, along with her daughters (left), attended the "Still Thankful, Still Giving" charity event for Adoption Awareness month. The event was held on Thursday November 29th at Cinespace in Los Angeles, California and was hosted by Lauren Holly to raise funds for the Casa Hogar Sion orphanage in Tijuana.

November 14th, 2007: A catch up of recent news, plus HT on Larry King Live.

Since the last news update here, the visitor statistics for this site continue to show that plenty of people have come here to read up on what has transpired over the last three weeks. I'd like to present a catch up of all of that, starting with the latest set of visitor numbers and finishing with HT's Larry King Live interview.

Visitor numbers and messages

After October 30th, the number of visitors has declined to a range between 8 000 and 12 000 a day. This is still far higher than this site is used to seeing but it is pleasing to see that there are still so many concerned people out there. Over the last three weeks or so, there have been around a half a million visitors.

I have finished collecting messages from other sites for HT to read and it struck me that there were probably hundreds more than I have been able to find. That just shows that so many people, even those that do not know who Hunter is, are concerned for her well being, and I am sure that she will appreciate the level of concern and sorrow that people have expressed.

Messages from the family

I have just confirmed that Chris Tylo left a message on the Celebrity Baby Blog (http://www.celebrity-babies.com/) recently. Why he chose that site I am not sure but it was him and this is what he said.

Hello everyone this is Mickey's brother Chris. I would like to thank everyone for their comments and support. I show Mom comments as much as I can and have her read everything to show how supportive everyone is. Once again, thank you all so very much, it means a lot to me and my family.

And Michael Tylo also thanked fans and the public in general through Tylo Times and the media. He talked about what Mickey was doing on the night before his passing. In the forum, I have posted articles from magazines that explains what happened to Mickey and what Michael said as well.

As you will see in the articles posted in the forum, Mickey's heartbroken girlfriend spoke of the last time she spoke to him, Hunter's manager of many years, Marv Dauer told the media how Hunter was coping and that she will be back at B&B this month, and one article even made some particularly outlandish claims to top it all off.

HT discusses her pain with Larry King

After all of this, Hunter appeared on Larry King Live last night to discuss her grief and reveal the next chapter in her life. In a cruel twist, her appearance came after a segment about plastic surgery (although the segment was about the risks and how Kanye West's mother died recently, allegedly after complications from plastic surgery). Hunter's critics will certainly laugh all the way down the street about that coincidence.

Anyway, Hunter told Larry King that Mickey had been having "complex partial seizures" since he was 15 and that he was seeing the therapist that his daughter had been seeing. She went on to talk about her reaction when Chris rang her and told her the terrible news (even Bella worked it out straight away before her brother had even said anything). After a few other topics were discussed, Hunter revealed that there is a lawsuit coming up (yes, these people cannot get a break; it is one situation after another, it seems).

Some will no doubt say that the lessons for people to learn from this new lawsuit situation could be to do your research when you see advertising and compare that with others in the appropriate field of expertise. It seems that there also needs to be some sort of law that would force boards that license certain medical "professionals" to investigate complaints to stop unfortunate outcomes from continually occuring (whether litigation is pending or not). As viewers of Larry King Live might have deduced last night, Kanye West will probably feel the same way.

In the old message board on this site, someone said after Mickey's passing: "You know the rich and famous may have lots of money but look what it cost them." This was not a very nice comment but it reminds one that, rich or poor, we are all in this - "random event", creation of God, or whatever you believe - together, and we all experience the same problems, just as we all experience different levels of success.

Finally, after HT's appearance last night, and also media articles, confirmed what I suspected about Chris's reaction to the events of last month (as I mentioned here in a previous update), I would like to especially single him out in this update. I would like to remind him (from one first born to another) that there are many events in our life that we have no control over, no matter how hard we might try sometimes (and God I try at the best of times, in a good way, of course, even when it is hard). But our main purpose is to learn from life's lessons (tragic or otherwise) and love and help those around us, and then love and help those who are less fortunate (they deserve to be loved and fought for just the same). That is what makes a better world, and it seems that young Mickey worked that out a lot earlier than many do (for which we should always remain proud of him for doing)!

October 31st, 2007: Some commentary about condolence messages.

The media hoopla is starting to subside and there are less people coming here now by comparison with last week (see update below). The more recent stats show the following visitor numbers:

Over the last week and a half, I have been collecting condolence messages from other sites to forward to HT. The most astonishing aspect of it all is the two extremes of emotions that people have displayed. On the one hand you have some incredibly kind people out there who are genuinely sympathetic and even discussed their own losses, but on the other hand there are some incredibly heartless cretins also that laughed at the news.

There was much speculation among the fighting in the comments from people on TMZ in particular, that Mickey was either murdered by his father (as one or two people said) or was on drugs, which, due to the photo posted of him (with dark eyes), was the majority of the discussion. People also commented (message # 323) on HT's alleged plastic surgery (a few months ago she officially denied having it) and people thought that HT is a "tranny" and deserves this tragedy just because she had an affair and sued the late Aaron Spelling. People can be so cruel but that is ignorance for you. It is hard to believe sometimes that these are human beings living on the same planet as us.

One interesting comment (# 317) said:

"Stop praying and do something useful, like contributing to a society for research on seizure disorders, or something of the like if you're really that busted up about it. though it is much easier just to type "god bless" and "believe in jesus." if you really believed in the teachings of the [insert holy book here] you wouldnt just be sending about prayers on a celeb news and exposure site."

Hunter's official site has a link where donations can be made to her charity in Mickey's name. One day, some of that money may very well be used for such research.

What was not lost on some was the irony between her B&B character giving birth on the show at the time HT lost her son in real life. I have seen such an irony several times before with other celebrities. It is so sad and eery. Then of course, there is the obvious discussion around, about using pool covers, but this is probably not the time for that (it is common sense to use one but there may have been a reason why one was not in use). I am sure that Chris is blaming himself a little (as most first-born people would) and that HT has wondered what she could have done to prevent this tragedy. But time to heel is needed and this is something that people could have left until later to discuss.

Magazines are starting to mention the news this week. In my country, a television magazine used a photo of Chris and incorrectly stated that it was Mickey. Such sloppy mistakes only further compound the grief. If you have seen an article in your country, feel free to scan it and post it in the forum.

October 28th, 2007: Stats and funeral.

Well what a week the last one has been! In just over a week, from October 19th to the 26th, there were 326088 visitors as follows:

People are still sending me a few emails here and there to send to HT, but overall it has gone quiet. On Friday, the funeral for Mickey was held. More than 200 family and friends, including most of the cast of B&B gathered to remember Mickey at the Church of the Hills at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles. "He liked to make me laugh," Hunter told everyone. "He had a beautiful spirit. I thank God for giving me those 19 years." Mickey's father, Michael said, "He had a love for people and cared about his friends. I'll miss him." Mickey was thinking about studying graphic design at the time of his tragic passing. Once again, I would like to say to HT and her family that I'm so incredibly sorry.

October 25th, 2007: Video

Tributes for Mickey Tylo continue to be posted on various web sites by concerned people around the world. There are also thousands of people still visiting this site with the total visitor statistics over the last five days now at almost 250 000 people (not a lot, but more than usual). Much of this is as a result of ET's story on Monday. I have finally changed the site design this week and will continue to work on that and new features. One of these is a video clips section (coming soon), with the first clip now available.

October 23rd, 2007: More commentary.

Monday's episode of 'Entertainment Tonight' featured a story near the end about Mickey's tragic passing. As I mentioned here recently (see below), it was a sibling that found Mickey. ET named that sibling as his older brother, Chris. Apart from that, the news story mainly dredged up all the negative parts about Hunter's life over the last decade or so (the lawsuit, her affair, divorce, and more). It is a shame that the media constantly does this!

It occured to me today that when I read media articles about Hunter, they always mention the Spelling lawsuit - as if she's not known for anything else. One of my fellow HT fans, JJ TT Carribbean, suggested in the chat area today that she has noticed the same thing, and that it's disgusting that this is all the media is talking about currently when they explain who HT is. I totally agree, because Hunter is not some money-hungry person, that lawsuit was 10 years ago. She is, amongst other interests, a fighter for women's rights, an advocate for early detection of Retinoblastoma, a mother, an actress and public speaker, and a gorgeous lady, of course. Does the media not think that any of that counts?

October 21st, 2007: A summary of news about Mickey's passing, plus HT leaving B&B.

There are currently a substantially higher number of visitors to this site (almost 45 000 page requests on October 19th and almost 69 000 on the 20th), so, to keep up with demand for information, I wanted to take people through a brief look at what has transpired in recent days. Soapdom.com, Scott's B&B board, TMZ, and other sites, including Hunter's official forum, have all seen comments from fans around the world all expressing their sorrow as the news spread via the Net to Europe and Australia in less than one day on Friday the 19th.

What happened

On the night of October 18th, 2007, while Hunter Tylo was in Los Angeles, her son, Michael Tylo Jr was home in Henderson, NV. At 10:18pm one of his siblings (apparently) discovered him and called police for help. By 11:55pm he was pronounced dead after apparently having a (tonic-clonic, aka Grand Mal) seizure and drowning in the pool at the family home as a result. It was not a suicide as some may have thought, and the Clark County Coroner has confirmed that it was an accidental drowning as a result of the unexpected seizure. The standard toxicology report will be released in a few weeks and will confirm that drugs were not involved; it was a tragic accident. Mickey was 19 years of age.

How the news broke

Although, Hunter's place of residence and some of Mickey's medical history has been reported in the media previously, I did want to try to respect their privacy, but celebrity news super site, TMZ let the cat out of the bag on Friday, because the guy that owns the site has access to information that no one else does. So ET et al will probably blow all this up into a big deal, with each claiming to have the exclusives. Hunter's rep has asked fans, though, to be careful what they choose to believe online (and obviously in other media) with bloggers speculating and all. The family will obviously make no comments for quite some time (possibly several months) as they deal with the tragic passing of Mickey.

HT leaves B&B?

I had thought that HT might want to take several months off from her job at B&B. Now I hear (and I have yet to see an official confirmation from CBS) that she has left the show indefinitely (ie: she's been released from her contract on compassionate grounds, at her request). This is merely a rumor posted on several B&B boards at this stage. If this does become true and we'll all know soon, I would not be surprised because she needs time, and may even look for a change in direction in her life.

An observation

This poor woman just can't seem to get a darn break from the cruelty that is life sometimes, and I really feel for her - it certainly makes my struggles with the usual ones we all have in a capitalist economy look like nothing. There are many people around the world who can't stand her (and I can post reader letters from soap magazines to prove it), but look how many come out of the woodwork when something like this happens. There were more than 100 000 visitors in 2 days to this site alone, and the numbers are growing as the horrible news spreads, such that this site could see a million people here this week. Where were they during the other major trials and tribulations she's had in her life? (Not that I am ungrateful to have such a massive audience, and I'm sure she will appreciate everyone's concern)

Anyway, it was interesting to see that when TMZ broke the story less than 12 hours after Mickey's passing, they filed it under "Celebrity Justice", which makes you wonder what Hunter (or Mickey) did to deserve that. It's not "justice" that this happened but of course I know what the category means so I'm just poking fun at TMZ. It has been a particularly upsetting weekend after all and I need to lighten up my mood a bit. As a fan of HT, I, and others, all love her and know this will be the most heartbreaking experience she has had yet, which is why I, like others, am so upset.

October 20th, 2007: HT's son passes away!

Oh God, I'm physically sick and incredibly distraught today. I came in from a Saturday night out (my time, in Oz), settled down to catch up on some TV while my PC downloads software and I happened to log in to HTs official forum. I've got one of those pesky viruses at the moment, which doesn't help, but I was truly sickened to my stomach to read the unbelievable news that HT's son had passed away. I checked this Google News search and these Google blog links and there it all was.

I will update this site on Sunday but for now, I'd just like to say to HT, Michael, Christopher, Isabella and Katya that I am so incredibly sorry and my thoughts and prayers go out to each of you. My sincerest condolences.

August 20th, 2007: Hunter in Belgium

Last Friday, Hunter made a promotional appearance for B&B in Belgium. She was wearing a see-through dress that caused a small amount of controversy. Photos are in the forum.
